May 2016 Story
More Americans than ever before are turning their backs on the United States.
The number of citizens and long-term residents cutting their official ties to Uncle Sam jumped more than 20% last year to 4,279, according to a CNNMoney analysis of the latest government data.
It's a trend that's been increasing in recent years. Many of those severing links are Americans living overseas who are tired of dealing with complicated tax paperwork, a headache that has worsened since new regulations came into effect.
Eighteen times as many Americans renounced their citizenship or long-term residency in 2015 compared with 2008. Last year was the third record-breaking year in a row.
Unlike most other countries, the U.S. taxes its citizens on all income, no matter where it's earned or where they live. For Americans living abroad, that results in a mountain of paperwork so complex that they are often forced to seek professional help, forking out high fees for accountants and lawyers.
I offer the above resources to any serious entrepreneurs, making serious money, and are serious about staying free from the @redsfaithful and @KLaw types.
No offense to either of those members. They can say whatever they want. It's a free country, or so the saying goes. And yet, some people would have it be less free.
Too unfree, apparently, for a potentially exponentially increasing number of ex-citizens.
And it's not just America.
A few months ago, I chatted with @theag about him renouncing his German citizenship. I won't share publicly his response.
And, heck. @theag has nothing to worry about... it's not like Germany has ever succumb to all-out tyranny before, right?
Heh-heh-heh.
Anyway, here is more food for thought for the e-commerce hustlers out there:
And for America, the numbers keep going up!
Ayn Rand taught us that you can't ignore reality. This holds true for the enemies of capitalism, as they see the results of their ideas bear fruit, in the form of the dead patriotism their ideas helped create.
No wonder it bothers them so much. Have you ever seen the friends of the tax collector twitch and spasm with such uncontrollable rage? You're missing a grand sight, for the freedom of those who've freed themselves causes their consternation.
For them, freedom infuriates.
They say one bad apple spoils the whole tree, so can we confidently identify the fans of anti-capitalism... as rotten fruit?
