I've read that a company's name isn't as important as marketing strategy and turning the name into a brand.
I get that.
But I hate my company name.
When we first started I thought it was clever but as time went on I found it annoying and lame.
We specialize in appliance repairs and used appliance sales. Our name is currently The Appliance Cellar.
Three reasons I hate it:
1. It's annoying having to spell out "Cellar" every time a customer needs to write us a check.
2. Its confusing. I've had customers call us the appliance "Cellular" or " Center" or they've just assumed its "Seller" and write a check to the wrong company.
3. I don't like the word "The" and "Appliance" in the name. It's redundant, e.g., "The Appliance Cellar - Appliance repairs and used appliance sales".
One of our competitors (Strong Arm Appliance Repairs) hit the nail on the head with their name. It's one of those things I wish I would've thought of.
My plan is to scale the business and I want a name that I actually like and that is brandable.
Has anyone ever used a branding company?
I know they can be expensive but I found one called Namella that seems affordable and somewhat decent.
How important is the name? What has been your experience with branding companies?
PS: Name suggestions are also welcome.
