Well, I only post a thread like this if I have already tried searching extensively on blogs or read books on the topic that were a waste of money.
All the technical stuff/skill is easy to find. Like CAD, prototyping, materials, manufacturer, import/export That information is plentiful and straight forward.
I know they say execution is key, but I need a method to finding solid needs/ideas or problem solving.
I realized early on that reselling online for the typical person will eventually be a dead path all together early on, but kept working on it because I thought it would be a fast way to quit my job, but instead has put me more in dept than anything.
I made this thread now because I have been reading more articles and realizing that retail/ecommerce industry is moving ridiculously fast and making me paranoid.
Out of all the information I have accumulated. I hate to use the word..., but i "can't" seem to find a process to finding a need that I can tackle with a physical product. I am choosing physical because that is where my skillset is currently and I can execute better.
Methods I have tried for need finding:
1. Look at my own life and problems that I encounter
2. Observe others and listen to their problems
3. Twitter/reddit search for "I want..." "I need..." "I...wish"
4. Kickstarter success categories that show market validation
5. Product Hunt website, but from what I see its mostly non-physical
6. Amazon Customer Reviews for product improvements.
7. Asking People... People really don't know what their problems are when you ask
I just get a huge mental block when trying to think of a new idea and my mind starts spiraling over the same thing again.
Resource and/or book recommendations for finding a need/want that is worth creating?
Or just general advice.
Seriously starting to think I'm a dumbass...
