Hello everyone, it's great to be here!
I’m 25 years old, I live in Europe and pursue a career in Human Resources. Besides working I am currently studying for a bachelor’s degree in Business Psychology (estimated time of graduation: April 2022). From my initial short description you may have already realized, that I have been a “Slowlaner” all my life. It’s something that I have been taught and getting rich and making millions was always for others, but never reachable for me. So I didn’t even think about dreaming big. Yes, I wanted a nice house, a respectable income and live a comfortable life without having to worry too much about money.
That changed when I met my partner. He has never worked for anyone else, started and still owns his own business and found or tried out different ways to generate income. He introduced me to the “Fastlane-Mindset”. It wasn’t immediate that I was onboard with the whole idea – it took time and many late night talks about habits, future goals and financial strategies for me to get to this point.
And still, I cannot get rid of my inner voice telling me that I don’t know enough, that I’m not smart enough, that I don’t have the endurance it takes to achieve my (big) dream of financial freedom. I’m a typical example of the imposter-syndrome: when I succeed, e.g. getting good grades or over-performing at my job, I attribute these successes to external factors. I barely give myself credit. However, if I fail or make mistakes I attribute these events to internal factors which results in me being extra hard on myself.
Now, I don’t want to use this as an excuse or sound like a typical action-faker. Because if I commit to something, may it be my studies or a job, I perform, work hard and am always willing to go the extra mile. So, the intention of this post is not to gain your sympathy or – god forbid – your pity. I want to use this post to step out of my comfort zone. To get rid of bad habits and create new productive and useful ones. To unlearn what I have learned over years and years living life in the Slowlane. And, above all, to make myself accountable for my actions. To do so and to be able to make the switch from “Slowlane” to “Fastlane”, I have defined 4 major steps for me to follow:

And, above all, to make myself accountable for my actions. To do so and to be able to make the switch from “Slowlane” to “Fastlane”, I have defined 4 major steps for me to follow:
- I will establish a new morning routine: wake up early, stretch/workout, meditate, read, and study before going to work, until it becomes a habit.
- I will become more aware of my environment, listen to other people’s complaints and each day write down at least one of these complaints to translate them into ideas for starting my own business.
- I will start experimenting, be more courageous and start my first own side business in 2021 and see where it leads me.
- I will teach myself how to code – I have already started with HTML & CSS, next up is JavaScript. I believe that no matter what you are doing, knowing how to code is absolutely essential in today’s world.
