I'd like to say I have a good understanding of my emotions and state however I've been going through this roller coaster of emotions lately. One day I would feel amazing and unstoppable and another I'll feel like shit. A sort of empty feeling.

The thing is. I'm completely aware of the fact that I'm feeling like shit. I'm aware of it. I know that it's just some chemicals in my head that are mixing around differently. However even with awareness, I find it extremely hard to pull myself out of that state.

Intellectual einstein is in the backseat and knows whats going on but my monkey brain is driving the car.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

I'm guessing.....a lot of us have similar days.

In a pretty physical guy so when I'm mentally stuck, or feeling like I'm loosing my day, or can't seem to get focused, or...... The list goes on... I'll go for a bike ride ( its a work out), or hit the gym, work on a project around the house, call a family member or friend, ... Something ! To get me in another "mental gear".

Make two separate to-do lists. One list is for all the things that require focus and thorough attention. The second list is for all the things that don't require much mental effort.
Every morning do a mental check-in and assess how you are feeling.
If you're feeling productive, do list 1. If you're feeling lousy, do list 2.

The key is to do SOMETHING. ACTION creates MOTIVATION which fuels further ACTION. Do not wait on motivation before starting action because you will never end up doing anything.

Typical Entrepreneurial signs of depression. Been through this cocktail myself so I will throw in my 2 cents :

1) Get fresh air on a regular basis.

2) If you eat Fish, eat Salmon. It slashes your depression rate by 30 %

3) Don't force yourself to do anything you cannot. It ends up worse. Be kind to yourself.

4) Confide in someone you can trust and ask them to keep you gently, on track.

5) Work out. Endorphin's will def help.

6) Establish your triggers. When you feel "high", what causes it ? When you feel "low" what causes it ?

7) Watch your sleep patterns. Patterns tell a story.

Just go easy on yourself and do little by little, even if it is just writing a blog post or reading a few pages of a book. When you are feeling low, get up physically and almost do what a dog does when it is in water. Shake it off. You will instantly change the energy around you from sluggish to upbeat :)

Emotions are just emotions. Accept they are perfectly normal. Understand when those moments come you just feel them and validate them and let them go. There not good or bad. They just are what they are in the moment. Don't attach any meaning to them, just experience them and let them go.

Your emotions will change moment to moment by what you introduce into your mind. You can experiment with this when you listen to different genre's of music. It's like flipping the radio station.

Change your environment the moment you feel a certain way. Emotions have to come out, so it's like taking out your trash. If you hold it inside, it makes you depressed. So find away to let it out by taking it out in sports, writing, art, gardening, doesn't matter how you release it, but if you hold it in it just makes you sick, and depressed.

I wish I could tattoo this on myself... I've been doing jack shit for 2 months not writing...waiting for that moment when i'll start again. Guess what just happened after i read that post? I forced myself to type SOMETHING before going to bed. It went OK, better than I thought, with lots of room and effort to go. But after those words being on the page..I immediately knew what I had to do next, and I felt better. Stupid brain, will it to action and see how your perspective changes quick.

lYou are bipolar.
However, do you have some personal or healts issues?
Depresseion, loneliness, girl with whom you have ugly sex or who is pissing you off each 5 days?
Do you have stresfull job?

Find the reasons in your life which makes you feel like that and finish them.
The bad thing is, that you will be always easy to move your emotions, unless you shut it off on a big scale,
however, if you will find your overall happiness, you will be living quite stable on emotions.\

And the most important - find the goal in your life.
And something to do.
Write on the paper 3 things you need to do in the next- and - no matter what happen do them. Whatever power you will need to find, in yourself, do this. 3 Simple things, do not take on it big things, because they will only make you feel depressed.
You things like " I will go riding on a bike for 30 minutes each two days".
or whatever you need to do.
When you do these things, you will fell good and realized.
And go on :)
BUT - no excuses on doing that things!

(this is method which my friend psychologist told me, very experienced with people in depression and other things, the value from her is even more worth, becase, she experienced this by herself in some time, so she knows what she is doing)
Easy but 100% working.
3 easy things - and deadline. And review. And no excuses. If you need help - call for the help in doing them, for example if you need to move wardrobe or something like this.

Depression goes something like this: You hear people give you negative feed back, you internalize that negative feed back. You take that negative feedback and switch it to your own negative self talk and beat yourself up with it.

Basically you block yourself from succeeding by not knowing how to detach yourself emotionally and mentally from what someone else says or does in your life.

Other people's thoughts were never your thoughts to begin with. The person that spoke them created them. Let go of them. What other people say or do doesn't define you.

Self talk is your negative feedback. So if you believe other people's garbage and rattle it around in your mind it's basically not yours to begin with, so why waste your time thinking about what someone says.

The belief system you need to worry about is your own belief system. What anyone else does or says doesn't matter. It all comes down to a choice of disciplining yourself and thoughts.

It's all about choice & what you believe

So let's say by power of suggestion and belief I tell you that you have purple disease. I see spots all over your arms. You don't see them. I give you purple candy to treat the symptoms. A. You start telling yourself you have purple disease. B. You start believing it, and believe the purple candy is the cure. So you walk around telling yourself all day you're a victim with purple disease and never get over purple disease. This is what happens in life. People say something and anything, you believe it, and buy into it whether it's the fast lane, or fruit loop cereal. This is how we make money off people whether it's the health, life style, or purple disease. Now sometimes you buy into good things like MJ and fast lane. Sometimes you just buy into what society, culture, and family tells you. If you believe you're depressed, you will be depressed. If you believe your life sucks it will suck. I've been there an done all of that and it won't make you learn how to detach yourself emotionally and mentally to what other people say and do in your life to harm you.

There is a thought process and belief system. It's your choice to discipline it and learn to focus.

@Eddie Morra just pop one of those clear pills sitting on your desk bro.

Lol no but I understand where you are coming from. Listen to personal power II by Anthony Robbins, the audio program. You've got to realize you choose what you think about. What you think about is directed by two things:
1. What questions you are asking yourself from moment to moment?
2. How you are using your body from moment to moment?

Depression is not a luck-type thing, oh it just strikes, etc. No, it's a process. You have to follow an exact process to do that, drop your shoulders, ask yourself a question like "Why couldn't I do anything today", breath shallower, frown, and boom you feel like shit.

Same thing with happiness, confidence. You pull your shoulders back, smile, stand, sit upright, breathe deep, ask "Wow, whats cool about this" , and boom.

Pay attention to your processes, and change em.

Hope that helps.

Hi Eddie,

We all go through these stages in our businesses, lives, friendships, etc.

I recommend reading the book The Edge Effect to gain a deeper understanding of your brain and its chemistry.

happens to me sometimes, but then I kick my own a$$ out of it by reminding myself how great everything is in my life.
