Was a member here for many years but rarely posted. Then I had seen the posts the last number of years had a lot of noise around them and rarely visited, so kudos to MJ for finally locking down the forum.
I've been in the staffing industry for over 25 years, running my own firm for over 10 years, including another firm I started recently.
I have experience placing IT contractors across every industry imaginable, as well as some accounting/finance, sales etc. Clients of ours are typically $100-500M in annual sales with several Billion dollar companies as well. Industries such as banking, insurance, real estate, software, telecom, healthcare etc and clients pays us to find that proverbial "needle in the haystack". Also some other niche industries as well we are experts in.
I also have extensive experience in doing perm/direct hire/retained search placements (one-time fees for placing an employee at a client), with individual fees ranging from $10k at the very low end (don't do many of these as too low a fee), up to $75k or so.
The staffing industry is a $500 Billion+/year industry with room for anyone who wants to built a business in this industry, in whatever niche you want, anywhere in the world.
I've been through Y2K, .com bust recession, 2008 GFC, Mobile, Cloud etc - seen it all. The benefit of this industry is it's virtually recession proof (if mostly contract/temp), and you can pivot industries/clients if things change. You spread the risk across different clients AND industries unlike a company in ONE industry that if the industry dies, so does the company.
If you wanted to know something about the industry, AMA - I fell into it by accident and very happy I did.
