I spent a 2-3 years developing a site of mine which I love, and I would love to get it ranked in Google for it's subpages on longtail keywords. I put about 20k already into it from developers, designers, programmers, etc. Unfortunately, paid marketing/adwords is not an option because I run an affiliate site and most if not all of the publishers will not pay if you have there name in the ads...so my only option is 100% targetted organic traffic from Google.
I hired a couple of people and all they did was steal my money and get me "unnatural link detection" notifications from Google. I was ranking on page 2-3 at one point for only 3 days until Google sent me that message...I'm now nowhere near page 1 for anything. They did poor seo like directory submissions, spun article submissions, bookmarks, etc. I'm out an additional 2k on SEOs who did nothing for me.
I've been at this for months and I can't find anyone trustworthy with a bit of quality. I did some SEO on my own but it's a lot of work to do P/T and I need some help from the professionals. I got the site to a PR4 but I need a lot more help with backlinking. My budget also isn't crazy high either. I called up seo.com and they wanted 20k/month for 3 search terms to appear on page 1 of google, no guarantee as to where on page 1 either. I definitely don't have that kind of cash to throw and even if I did, I would probably be in the red if I get rankings of #3-10 for 3 search term ranks. I contacted a few others pros and they all want 5-10k/mth...I don't even make close to that working f/t with bills, etc. This is just a part-time thing and I'm finding it impossible to get it going. If I take a small loan out for guaranteed results I would probably consider that, as long as I get the ranks so I can pay that debt off with the revenue gained.
I'm sure many of you have been in my shoes and I'm looking for suggestions, thoughts or help going forward. I'm currently with a new seo guy and I all I can do is pray that something gets out of it but it's not looking good already. Maybe you guys have a suggestion on an honest SEO company?
