Should I choose this path?

First I have to admit English is not my first language so apology for any typos that might be in here.

Background : I was graduated bachelor degree in Marketing but the first company I worked with was about digital products through e-commerce. I worked as internet marketer at the time. I learned a lot about websites from basic to advance HTML and CMS installation / a bit customization. Most of them learned from self-learning through books. (mostly from Amazon)

The changing point was when I heard about SEO and study them myself. I had two income generation models

1. Content based website earning through Google Adsense and

2. Reviews based website earning through affiliates (mostly from CJ)

It was a time when I was flourished because my website ranked #1 - #3 in many super strong competitive keywords. They outrank many established competitors at the time. Received a tons of traffics and got money poured in.

However that time wasn't last long. It was 4 years of happiness as I thought I was rich enough with around $6,000 monthly. It may not much for anyone who living in developed countries but a lot to me. My websites generated income 24 hrs a day without any of my efforts. I thought I found the right path and then some disasters came. After Google changed their algorithm all of my websites ranking were crashed in ranking, both homepage and inner pages. It was a classic domino effect.

At first I tried everything in my grasp to recover them back. I spent a lot of budget and times and after 4 years I found it was a completely wasted. At that time I don't know what was called but after reading MJ book it should be called "hitchhiking" mentioned in MJ DeMarco Books three years later. I mislead by my own illusion. I wasn't my own boss since I relied on two major uncontrollable factors.

1. 98% of my traffics come from organic ranking in Google

2. income from both Adsense and Affiliates were a kind of "At your mercy" by third parties I cannot control

Another lesson. When I had a lot of money apart from spent in the expanding websites I bought my mom her dream cars. It costs around $40,000 if calculate based price in here. It wasn't much since my monthly income could cover that. (in accumulated) However it was a kind of "sidewalk" and "instant gratifications" mindset referred in MJ book, although it wasn't my own. I do proud to give her that but it could be better for a long in vision and put those money to invest in another business instead.

Now I'm working as a freelance for website services just to make a living. I have no saving much enough to start another business yet after spent most of them to fix the issues for years. My strongest knowledge was about SEO but it died since I cannot adopted to a new world of SEO right now. Its progress is far more advance than any persons whom trying to manipulate their ranking.

Back to the topics. I analyzed both of my strong and weakness and here is my conclusion.

Strong points

1. I have influenced in English
2. I can create websites using many CMS or even coding a basic HTML site if needed.

Weakness

1. I have no programming background and cannot coding any language more advance beyond HTML. PHP, ASP, etc.

2. I do understand computer and networking system but only as advanced user. I'm not a technician type and do not have any background in computer engineering.

By this conclusion I should consider anything range from content based to e-commerce site. I understand about provide value and help people solve problems teach in MJ book. But to be honest I cannot think about any value I could provide as content based model so my choice now is about e-commerce and selling perfume / fragrance. I mean to start my own line and my branding, not selling famous brands. I chose this because I personally addicted and passion in fragrance but not understand anything about creating them. By referring to CENTS I think this line of product is perfectly fit for it. Do you have any idea or suggestion? Thank you.
