I've been reading a number of books in the entrepreneur world including Unscripted and Millionaire Fastlane , as well as talking to entrepreneurs I know, and the general perspective I'm developing is that coming up with good business ideas (and knowing they're good ideas) is just kind of a dark art that no one really understands or can reproduce consistently (even successful entrepreneurs). It's kind of like how top batters in baseball still miss two thirds of their swings. It seems like basically the only way to succeed at coming up with good ideas is just a combination of persistence, time, and luck.

The other aspect of being a successful entrepreneur is execution, and that does seem to be something that is much more clearly a skillset that can be developed. So now I'm thinking maybe the best approach as a budding entrepreneur would just be to pick basically any idea for a business I come up with and just try to build it out, expecting whole heartedly to fail, but just treating it a self-led education in executing an idea effectively. That way I'm focusing on the controllable in the equation, and in the mean time I will continue looking for ideas so that I'm still getting my lottery ticket chance at those persistence+time+luck quality ideas. Then when I do have a shot at a good idea, I'll have the skills to execute on it. Thoughts on this philosophy?
