Okay so I've posted a couple threads in the past as well and always appreciate the INSIDERS help.
I have started up a new plumbing company. I have 2 guys working for me and myself. I'm a Red Seal plumber and have another red seal working for me. I want to expand this company. Combined experience in the plumbing field between me and my partner is 25 years.
So far there is only enough work for 2 people but at times I get busy with other things so I keep my 3rd guy on part time. This is strictly word of mouth work.
So now things we can do is:
-new construction for residential and commercial.
-service work
I have the money to buy inventory. I have the money to buy vehicles. I have the money to advertise.
I still can not figure out:
1) where to advertise
2) am I thinking too large?
3) when should I hire new employees? After advertising or start talking to them now?
4) do I do profit sharing with new employees or do I pay them hourly? I was thinking I pay a % of the job plus a certain % of parts sold. I price the parts
5) inventory control on parts what software to use? How do I make sure the van's are stocked. Right now I use the part and I know what I've used so I just update my excel sheets daily.
6) billing clients via visa/mastercard. What is the best route? I was thinking an app that works with an iPad and give each employee a company iPad which they return with the van at the end of the day
7) should I hire someone that will look for new business as far as new construction is concerned. Talked to builders/developers?
If I pay a % I don't have to deal with employees working real slow. Their work and pay depends on how hard they work. I provide the vehicles, the tools, parts, and leads. They do the work.
Help would be greatly appreciated. So far I have invoices, cards, designs, etc made but whats next. do I look for business, do I advertise, do I look for employees, do I set up an inventory system, do I set up a scheduling system?
also besides the INSIDERS is there a professional service I can hire that can help me get this sorted out and put me on a clear path. I don't feel like I have a clear path.
