My health website gets a lot of visitors, but they don't stay very long (3.5 pages on average) and 80% of them are first time visitors. I am considering ways to involve them and encourage them to stay longer, and/or come back more. We have plenty of content (170,000+ pages indexed), 30+ interactive tools. My first thought was a Forum, but people usually find us looking for our health calculators, and forums are a lot of work with moderators, key contributers and so on, and not too easy to integrate with other content. My second idea was a yahoo answers type setup where users can ask questions and get answers back from other users, this could be easily worked into my most popular pages. We also recently put up slideshows taking articles with 10-12 tips in them and converting them to the slide show format with a picture per tip, that is gaining some traction. Anybody have any fabulous ideas, or seen anything in this vein really well done on another site? If you don't have an idea, please give me your opinion between the forum and the q&a ideas. Thanks!
