NOTE: Below is my idea on which I'd like your feedback - it is not an offer yet, but if I spark your interest I may turn it into an irresistible offer which solves the issue of many fellow fastlaners here who want to start online business but don't know programming.
It's a long post but those who need it, they will read it
AT moderators: sorry for a pitchy, lengthy post, I really didn't know how to put this in fewer words (even this is brief version). If I just said "do you need..." without elaborating, that wouldn't communicate the idea right.
Certain questions are constantly repeated on forum by new members, along the lines of:
I wanna start a website but can't program, should I hire a company or a freelancer?
How and to whom to outsource, how do I find a good programmer, designer?
How do I keep control over my website if I don't learn programming?
...
So people are either stuck with these justified dilemmas and take no action,
or go to some outsourcing website and simply try their luck, often not having any
and just wasting time and money.
Because it's not about luck.
It's about proper project management.
Websites are getting increasingly complex, and serious project needs
educated handling from start to end. Informed decisions need to be made.
Without knowledge and experience you can't even properly write project requirements
for your website. Sure, you know you want a shopping cart, or this or that feature.
And a cool logo in your favorite color.
You can get all that.
But did you consider User Experience, SEO, security, scalability, extensibility of your website?
Have you been advised on best practices, in this time where competition is huge and having an edge
is essential?
In fact, have you even chosen the right platform for your project?
If answer to any of those questions is not a firm YES, then please read on
and let me know what you think about my solution.
If you like it, I just might as well make it available, and avail you to have
a quality website done at competitive price, headache free.
The solution is...
Having a Project Manager handle it all for you!
In this case it would be me, so what I'd do for you is:
>> Listen carefully to what you want your website to do
>> Give you feedback on possible/best ways how to achieve it
>> Write project requirements
>> Outsource for you - Find and manage high quality but affordable developers and designers - many of whom I know already.
>> Personally audit code or have it audited by another professional (depending on programming language)
>> Put everything together and put it online.
>> Educate you on basics of how to webmaster your website.
>> Support you through beta testing period, and afterwards if you wish.
Benefits you'd get from this are:
++ Getting a better website, which functions as you imagined,
enhanced by best practices and proven tactics to give you an edge.
++ Risk & headache free outsourcing. You will get low prices AND quality,
and will not have to worry about cultural or timezone differences, or quality of code.
++ Having your website online and working with 0 tech work from your side.
++ Being patiently educated about webmastering your website, after all, once it's online, you're a webmaster
++ You will get your website as a full package: complete set of files, documented and audited.
That is REAL control over your website. Often here on forum is heard "I have to learn basics of programming so that I can keep control over my website". While knowledge is for sure benefitial, this "solution" is a bit naive. Knowing basics of some programming language won't allow you to really audit the code. If it works and code is nicely indented, it may seem fine to you.
When you have quality code, well commented, then any professional developer can take over it in the future when you need more features added - or when you learn the language yourself.
I've already done this once and it's been a great success, so I'm curious guys, how does it sound to you, interested?
