Hello community! Salvador here! I want to address new Fastlaners who are around my age, young 17-22 year olds!
So you have read the Fastlane, you realize their is are more options than getting that first job under the baggy-eyed manager at Subway who doesn't care you did good in class...
Now you want to have that product or service you can be proud of! But you just can't seem to find it! You spend hours on YouTube, reading books, and listening to podcasts, constantly feeding your brain with new content! Great!
I'd like to pass along a tip from @MustImprove , that can help you step out of the Slowlane, Mentally.
It is, create a Solution to a real Problem, for a Real person.
@MustImprove had this one generous thread/post

"Develop your problem solving "muscle" is what every new Fastlaner needs to "work out".
The reason I'd like to address the age group of 17-22 is because that would be the average (may be different) age of a person who is living at home and just graduated high school or college. With no major resources, professional networks, and large quantities of money to invest on an idea. I can assume your parents, or for the broken family (like mine) The tough single mom or dad, are not very supportive of your decision to take the road less traveled. After all its too risky!
So start at home (exercise your problem solving muscle)... The Real person with a Real problem in this moment in your young life is your mom and/or dad. (or Guardian/room-mate). They are up to their neck with stress... And you can be the Solution.
One Little Solution:
I spend my days thinking of that first business I can build...
At home, things are broken. My dad works full time and has left the house. I see him on Wednesday, sometimes my brothers and I dont see him for reasons I dont want to know. I have two younger brothers, changing day by day and their depression is showing because of the emptiness of the home, no hot meals ready at the table anymore. My mom has to work more than an average employee now, barely home two days a week. So one thing I can do is make this home feel a little more like, home.
To exercise my problem solving muscle, I thought up of a Solution. A solution to help my mom around the house. She cannot do her traditional stay-at home role like daily house tidiness because she must work for our survival (food, water, shelter, clothes, etc.).
So I have rounded up my brothers like soldiers. I pinned a small index card on a small section of the wall in the kitchen. In it is a Weekly schedule, Sunday-Saturday. One name is written on each day (example: Monday: Salvador, Tuesday: Chris, Wednesday: Erick, and so on). It simply means its your day to wash the dishes, sweep, clean the kitchen after meals, vacuum if needed, and tidy living room and such. Simple.
Now this home feels and looks as if a parent is cleaning it. I solved a problem/need for my mother.
Thank you for reading!
