Update: the email list is now live here: Bence Ur's AI Experiments
I'm setting up the domain and Beehiiv account in order to start my "AI for solopreneurs and small businesses" email list on Beehiiv. There are a ton of AI newsletters already, however mine is not focused on AI news, instead I will be documenting my real-world AI projects and share everything along the way (building in public). I couldn't find any good newsletter which is not just AI news, but which is focusing on practical, real-world projects on how one-person businesses and small businesses can use AI in practice, so I think it's a great niche opportunity for me.
Grading the business from the CENTS perspective:
Control - yes, the email list is mine, I am not dependent on a social media or Google algorithm, I can export my list and send them emails whenever I want, with Beehiiv or with another service. Unfortunately Google is everywhere, Gmail is the largest email provider, however Gmail users can choose to receive my emails into their inboxes if they want to.
Entry - yes anyone can start an email list, however the market is somewhat saturated, it takes time and money to grow the list. So starting is easy, but growing the list is hard.
Need - yes, people read newsletters, there are many newsletters with hundreds of thousands of subscribers, the need is out there. About 50% of the population, 4 billion people use email. Everyone has an email address.
Time - yes, it takes the same amount of time to send an email to 1 or 100,000 subscribers, it is not tied to my time.
Scale - yes, the business can scale by growing the number of subscribers.
I plan to monetize the list in the following ways:
- selling my own products (digital products)
- paid ads (Beehiiv has an ad network)
- affiliate links
Here is how I would like to give value: if you don't want to get replaced by AI, then you need to learn AI. I would like to help the subscribers to learn AI so they don't get replaced by it.
Questions, comments, suggestions are welcome!
