Just a quick introduction, 26 years old and based in Ireland. Computer science graduate. Currently at the moment work as a systems administrator (Linux) and e-mail/phone support technician. Pays the bills but feel like I would rather work in an environment that I had more of an influence. Want to branch out into the world of business and entrepreneurship. All in good time
Current project:
Currently working on music transcription software (everything - programming/documentation/copywriting/marketing) and don't have an accurate timeframe but can't wait for my first sale. This will be for PC (Windows/Linux) and Mac OS X. No plans yet for iOS / Android
There are two competing products on the market that I both use for figuring out chords / melody from music (as a hobby) and feel like I would like to try give a try at creating an alternative (whether my one will be simpler, or have features I think are missing that others would benefit from, is still to be fully decided - but I will push that USP/differentiator once I've done more work).
I have dabbled with affiliate marketing / Google Adwords in my teens, it was nice pocket money and I suppose it would be alot quicker than making a product, but don't really have interest in it at the moment. But I'm hoping that any knowledge I gained then, will be helpful as I create my PPC campaigns later.
So I still have a good bit to learn about online marketing etc. and hope to put what little I do know, into practice.
This will mean a good few months of programming but I have already made some progress with the functionality and user interface but it's a slow journey and embracing it.
This isn't quite a "Fastlane" idea, as the target market is small. But I'm hoping to use it as a way to get my feet wet. If I make enough sales then hopefully it might result in free time to tackle bigger things and leave my full-time job. Or I could combine it with freelancing.
Fastlane Future:
I hope to create an ERP / SaaS offering at some stage for small businesses. Basically allowing small business do inventory management / stocktaking / accounts / point-of-sale. Also with a focus of being able to access data offline and quickly or "on the go". I've used OpenERP for my brother's HVAC business.
---
The Millionaire Fastlane book was the practical jolt I needed, to lean and hustle through the journey. I needed affirmation that this would take time.
Looking forward to contributing to this community/forum.
