Although I'm Canadian, I invest primarily in U.S. stocks. Currently my portfolio is up a little over 28% YTD. So far, this compares well to the index.

DOW +1.6%
NASDAQ +1.5%

My return has been approximately 14% annualized over the last 14 years. This results in the quadrupling of an original investment compared to the 60% return of the S&P500 over the same period.
It's not amazing, it's respectable I think. I've made a lot of mistakes, but I'm continually learning.

As some readers may notice, the vast majority of my investments have been in U.S. retail (cue horror music). In my introduction I mentioned that I look for investments in the wreckage of destroyed markets. Few markets have been as destroyed as U.S. retail.
Selling puts on BKE stock is still a viable way of making money and building up a position in a strong retailer.
