College will be soon and I'm stuck in the dilemma. I've had excelling grades in Highschool and could have the capability for prestigious Universities. However I do not want to emphasize a large commitment to college/university for the cost and result in the workforce that it provides. Some reasons include large competition with a lack of opportunity, debt, and the lack of use for the degree which will be some form of engineering either agricultural or mechanical. However, I have decided what I want to do before and after college. Right now I am currently learning how to trade stocks and I do not have a job. I plan to make this a source of income that will not take a lot of time and considering if I risk 100 dollars a day it would be the same as if someone who has a job didn't come to their minimum wage job. So it evens out (or how I think it does). Besides some expenses (mainly insurance for vehicle) and occasionally purchasing equipment I use for my hobbies its about it. I still have time to save for college but I feel it is unnecessary to. Even though I plan to attend university, I plan on saving my money and reinvesting it into Real Estate as a form of passive income. I do recognize the large debt I would incur from this process between student loans (If I don't use what I have saved) and a mortgage or the expenses from a property that I rent out to tenants.
I truly find university a waste but considered necessary as it appeals to credibility. But I want something that can truly return what I put into it. real Estate along with some of my other start up ideas and products that I would like to market maybe even using my engineering degree that I plan to get to create and acquire patents (even though you don't need a degree to have a patent) it adds credibility.
I've still got about a year to decide and as I look at my options new aspects are revealed, along with new opportunities. I wanted some feedback on my plan and how it could be improved and address some parts that I may be unaware of currently.
Thanks
