When I started making passive income I used to refresh my analytics screen every 10 minutes to see the sales coming in.
I got the rush from seeing those sales come in.
That excitement lasted less than a week.
I used to chase the money, the cars, and the girls it would get me (or so I thought at the time).
Once I got it...I felt more free. My personality had a subtle shift, but in the end...I was still the same person I was before the money rolled in.
All of a sudden, it wasn't the 4-5 figures that were automatically deposited in my bank account from my apps each month that made me happy.
It became the new norm. I once had what I dreamed of, so I kept chasing...but I wasn't feeling fulfilled.
To be honest, I never resonated with the "sell physical products" mindset that most people on here seem to have. It wasn't my path.
Everything I tried, something inside of me resisted.
Selling things for money wasn't fulfilling. It wasn't making me happy.
Do you ever find yourself attaching happiness to something that rests in the future?
After my first business took off, I went on a long journey in personal development. Eventually started my own personal development company with the goal of helping others.
I was becoming more fulfilled by helping others than I was by the money that rolled in.
One of the things I learned on that journey was that in the unconscious mind, the past and future are not real. The time is always now.
The past and future are "not happening" and the present moment is the only thing that is ever happening.
Im sitting on here in an apartment in Bolder, CO, sitting on my couch while my roommate is out of town for the week...and I'm choosing to feel that internal feeling of happiness right now.
Each day I wake up and forced this feeling until it became a habit.
20 minutes of meditating and manufacturing the feelings of happiness, gratefulness, abundance, and peace.
Don't get me wrong - I enjoy the sales too..but I also choose to enjoy life before the sales come in.
Reflecting back upon my journey, I began to realize that the happiest and most fulfilling moments were not the instant the check was deposited into my bank account.
The destination, the freedom...yes it's fun. Don't get me wrong.
But it's those moments you enjoy doing the things you feel that are your purpose in life that are the most rewarding.
For me, it's writing and helping others through the struggles I pushed through. Growing outside of my comfort zone until I realize that I thrive in the unknown.
Entrepreneurship is not just about business. That girl who sings her first song on youtube in her macbook this year that will perform at the superbowl in 10 years. It's that basketball player on the streets of New York City that will make it to the pros one day.
The most important thing that I learned on this journey is that when you choose to follow the path that is right for YOU, choose happiness now instead of pushing it into the indefinite future, and choosing to be fulfilled with what you already have.
I think it was Steve Jobs who said if wake up enough mornings in a row and don't enjoy the things you're doing - it's time to start doing something else.
When you calm your mind and ignore what others around you think you want - you can listen to that inner voice that never lets us down, and finally understand what path in life will make YOU fulfilled.
Choose to be happy now - because now is all there is.
- While I was at home.
- At my job.
- At the gym.

- As you are reading this sentence, the time is now.
- And even thought its a different time, the time is still now as you read this.

- It was that moment when I had $250 to my name, packed my 2006 nissan sentra and drove across the country for the first time.
- It was when I moved into Project Scottsdale with @JasonR and @TheTruth - living in what can be comparable to an exotic vacation resort for 6 months straight.
- It were the moments I hiked to the top of Devil's Bridge with KY and MS - to record youtube videos - and realize we left another fastlaner at the bottom of the mountain for 3 hours as we lost track of time.
- It was that moment I was sitting on the side of the road in the middle of the wilderness in Montana when I thought I was going to die.
The destination, the freedom...yes it's fun. Don't get me wrong.
