I have been reading the success stories on this forum since I registered yesterday. It's very interesting to see how people came from nowhere and being everywhere now.

Many of the success millionaires are fairly young. I guess it's never too late to start at age of 40 and be successful at age of 50. :-)

Personally, I don't really know if I will call it a success when I become multi-millionaire. Financially, I am in my First-M class, but I have no worries. I live in a nice small 3 bed rooms house, driving a nice SUV. My wife and I enjoy our weekend and vacation time. I may not be as rich as many of you driving Lambo, but I don't worry about foods and place to stay everyday. That's enough. I do want to make more money to support my dream to travel around the world and support my charity the way I always wanted.

I estimate the cost of my travel and charity works. It's about $80K/month. If I can make $80K/month net income, I will be living in my dream and still be able to support charity. I will call it a success!

I know many of you became a millionaire by buying and selling properties. I am not. Here is my little history.

I came from Taiwan to USA in 1996. I switch my major from Molecular Biology into Computer Graphics. I got my technology master degree in ASU. I was doing 3D animation as my first job in 1997. I switched lane again to become the web application developer and database administrator in DOT COM era. I was earning only $28k a year with my master degree for three years.

In 2001, I work for a national wide IT consulting firm and become top IT consultant. I develop web based e-commerce system for some big corporations in Phoenix. I was earning over 6 figure salary by working up to 72 hours a week. What a shame!

In 2003, I changed lane again and work as Chief Architect with few great people to start a software company in legal industry. My application is currently running at over 175 law firms world wide.

I quit my job in 2006 and travel to China, Hong Kong and Taiwan for 7 months looking for some ideas. Since then, I have been self-employed and work from home. I am currently operating few online stores and do everything myself. Last year was a good year. This years is slow, but still moving forward. It is just not as good as I expect.

I have a great achievement on my career path. At the end, I was working 14 hours a day and making everyone success and rich but me. So I decided to quit my IT job. I picked up Tim's 4 hours work week book and swore to become the lifestyle entrepreneur.
I am far from my success and reaching my goals, but I am working very hard to get there. By reading what people said on this forum, it makes me motivated.

To be honest, be my own boss is harder than I expect, but it's fun! I want to learn from all of you. :hl:

I really want to learn the following things from all of you.

  1. Risk management. I often have fear to invest on something that I am not familiar. It turns out that I have spent too much time on researching and missed the opportunities.
  2. Pull myself out from the mess with outsourcing. Currently I do everything myself from setting up web store, do marketing, manage inventory, handle customer service etc. I was ripped off by other companies promised to handle all those for me.
I would love to hear any suggestion from all of you about the above two challenges. Thanks!
