Hello FastLaneForum
I've spent 20+ years in Tech. It pains me to write that. (As I read TFM it changed from a point of pride to a realization that I've got to move fast now) I was good at every role I had and often was promoted or recruited into my subsequent role. I tired of it like a rat on a treadmill. The last 6 years, I've started and failed at half a dozen businesses. I have one that is still going and "successful" but I built it wrong and it will never generate more than a few thousand US dollars a year. On the plus side it takes me maybe 1 to 2 hours a month to run it.
I've lurked thefastlaneforum.com about 6 years ago, never joined as far as I can tell. That seems pretty typical as my ego told me: "Ah you're a smart guy. You don't need any of that." And then proceeded to go off and try, but fail. So if you're a glass half-full kinda person you'd say "At least you tried." But, if I'm honest (and that is my secondary intention in actually joining this time around) I didn't really try. I was "playing at business owner" like a little girl plays house. (or boys, let's be inclusive here)
So I've spent hundreds of thousands of dollars and left a wake of destruction through creation in my wake.
I have already mentioned my secondary intention, my primary intention is to Learn.
I've joined the Fox Web School Legends as well (hey @Fox) in both places I've actually done an Intro. This may seem like table stakes to many of y'all reading this, but it is a sea change for me.
When what you're doing isn't working, try something else. That's what "they" say.
I know the sacrifices needed to climb the corporate ladder. This gives me the illusion of success in my head. But a small voice in that same head tells me - "You don't know jack about actually being successful in business" But, I know enough that what I was taught in in Business School is mostly bunk. Yep, I'm well degreed = Bachelors in Tech, Masters in Business. So I know enough to know that much (if not all) of what @MJ DeMarco writes about is true. It just needs to be internalized and acted upon. I am humbly Here. This is my starting point.
Ego aside. Blank page ready to be written. Y'all can be my co-authors.
Thank you for being here.
Let's rumble.
