I'm sure there are lots of people struggling like myself who have a hard time making enough time for a their fastlane business because of a 40 hour work week. I think I have found a way to free yourself from working for someone else, develop some great people skills and potentially make quite a bit of money.
This is a service business idea that is bootstrapped easily by you will never guess, a retail job! All you really need is to have some motivation and be tech savvy. I'm sure location plays lots into this but here we go:
Tech tutoring and mobile computer services, aimed at the elderly and once you get a name for yourself, businesses.
I'm still building it and not there yet, as it is taking a lot longer with a partner as we are splitting the business and I am still working a job, but my partner is making around 30k a year and he has quite a bit of free time.
I'm terrible at typing things up here so I'll break it up into point form:
That about wraps it up. As long as your monthly expenses aren't too high this should give you alot of money to play around with and a lot of time.
I'm going into this full time by the end of christmas, just not leaving my job in the lurch.
I hope this helps some of you out or at least gives you ideas who have a DRAINING job and have no energy left by the end of the day. It's just so freeing I can't even explain it.
Couple this with no car payment and cheap room mate rent and your laughing~

- Apply at a retail electronics sales job.
- Chances are, they do not do lessons. There are HUGE AMOUNTS of seniors and even middle aged folks who want to learn technology, or to get the most out of it. With tablets, smart phones and new electronics more mainstream / prevalent than ever, and CONSTANTLY CHANGING, the demand is just massive.
- Make up business cards and website. Talk to all of your co workers and they will most likely be happy to hand the cards out if you have built some rapport with them. Go to the bathroom and call your voicemails back as soon as you get them at work and book appointments!
- Don't stop here, buddy buddy with all the other retail store employees and make friends with them. Eventually let them in on what you're doing and in my case they will be happy to hand out cards, as not many people do this! Being a 1 on 1 person rather than a company lets you leverage your rapport too even if there are other companies in the area doing this.
- In my partners case, within a year he has been able to quit his retail job and focus on marketing his business. Some days he works six hours, some days he works 1 hour.
- I'm sure what you charge will be different everywhere but we charge $50 an hour. People are HAPPY to pay this.
- Branch off into local web design, throw together cheap WordPress sites. In my area the developers are so bad that a cheap WordPress site looks MILES better!
