I am starting a business that generates leads for dentists via local search results. The website is almost done and I will soon hire a guy to telemarket my offer of 5 free leads with no obligations. I know that lead generation is a tough business so I will be very clear that I am not expecting any commitments, only offering a preview of my services.
I expect that my cold calls will almost always run into a secretary. I will have a few options at this point:
1. Give the offer to the secretary and ask her to pass it on. This feels like the worst option.
2. Ask to speak to the dentist. If busy ask for a good time to talk to him directly, but make sure to get him on the phone.
3. Ask for a fax or email and send over my offer. Then follow up the next day.
I'm leaning towards the 3rd option, but it has more parts and may lose potential clients in the process. For you guys who have done this sort of thing, what do you think is the best strategy? I'm open to any advice.
