As a collegiate tennis player currently, I came up with the idea for a business today at work that uses a database (like Google) to show you all the public tennis courts and facilities nearby, as well as the possibility of connecting you with professional tennis teachers. And with pickleball becoming more and more popular, it might also aim for that audience.

Some websites have a "find a tennis court near you" feature; however, they don't have the best functionality or aesthetics.

How would one locate and/or compile a database for a particular industry?
Finally, is this better suited for a website or an app? Given that apps are more practical for people on the go, I was considering an app.

I have been learning HTML to help support the idea of creating a website or an app.

Not sure I like the idea as I know where all the tennis courts are in my area, and pickleball too. So you use the app once, and that's it unless you travel.

This might be good for couples who travel a lot.

A better idea would be for the app to tell you if your local pickleball / tennis court is open and available, although I'm not sure how that would be solved short of having satellites in space.

Only thing that I could see down this path would be online portal to reserve tennis courts. Could do like AirBNB where the owners of courts can rent them out for timeslots by leaving a lockbox next to a fence in court. But honestly this seems to niche to be worth pursuing.

At the very least, you could look up the business on google via api and determine if the traffic is heavy or light atm. That won't guarantee open courts but a higher probability of being able to play.

That's a good point you made. I'm looking at problems, and the other thing I see is that Salesforce, my work, has a part of a database that scans people in the facility. But this market is too crowded since companies are appearing everywhere with this type of database, not to mention the popularity of AI.

"There's problems all around us."

Thank you,
MJ
