Thank you. Thank you MJ. Thank you Fastlaners. Thank you for saving me from impending doom.
Hi, bephenomenal reporting from the Gold Coast, Australia. It’s nice to meet you all. I’m really looking forward to being involved in the community and getting to know you all (rather than just silently stalking your threads hehe).
This year I dropped out of my first year of university (law/politics). There were several reasons for the decision, but one of the big ones was definitely “What am I doing with my life? I can’t imagine doing this stuff for the next 40 years!”
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had trouble choosing a career. It just didn’t make sense to me. There wasn’t one thing I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I wanted the freedom to explore and create and just live.
Anyway, I bought in to the Slowlane mentality from quite a young age. I studied extremely hard at school, to get to university, to get a job, to work, to die…? Hmm, something’s not right here.
What I realised is this: the path I’m on will surely lead to me becoming depressed and having some sort of mid-life crisis. It was a recipe for disaster, I was on track for impending doom.
I didn’t want that. So, to the surprise of family, friends and teachers, I dropped out of university. I do intend to go back, but now it’s for different reasons.
Right now, I’m roughly half way through my gap year. Since dropping out, I’ve poured all my energy in to self-development, reading, learning, and yes, saving money from my good old burger-flippin’ Slowlane job
I discovered the Millionaire Fastlane while browsing the internet for a place where I could collaborate with other ambitious people. It was a godsend. Inspirational, entertaining, enlightening. It struck chords and articulated how I had been feeling for such a long, long time. It revealed to me how I can contribute to society through inventing, and also live a lifestyle of freedom. Life doesn’t have to be a full-time job that drains the life out of you, it doesn’t have to be lived in servitude, it doesn’t have to suck. So thank you. Thank you for saving me from impending doom.
Since then I have been obsessed with businesses, strategies and solutions. For a while it felt like I was coming up with new ideas every day to help people – I was developing an entrepreneurial mindset.
Despite being very interested in it all, though, I have very little to show for it… It’s very easy to think that browsing the forums counts as doing business, isn’t it? Well, my discipline is back on track now. I’ve finally written down my personal and financial goals. My friends and I have a few ventures underway. My journey is starting and I’m looking forward to sharing it with you.
