Hello Everyone!

I have just recently joined this incredible forum through which I found by reading MJ's masterclass work of The Millionaire Fastlane and I'm really excited and looking forward to reading a lot of what you guys have to say and updating you guys as my journey progresses in the future.

So, first and foremost, I would like to say a HUGE thank you to you MJ for taking your time to write this eye-opening book that has really helped me change my mindset about how I should really be living my life. Thank you very much for spending as much as 3 years to write this one book that has the potential to impact millions of people, even though you didn't truly need to do that given all your wealth and success at the time. And thank you for not giving up numerous times on publishing this book halfway through it; or else I (and many others) may have never truly understood the right road to take to get rich fast and go against the status quo.

A little about me - I'm from Canada, I'm currently 20 years old (turning 21 soon), and I have thankfully and finally graduated from university from a general business program. To be completely honest, I had a pretty good experience, met some great people, and have no regrets, but if I had read TMF during or shortly after finishing high school, I probably would have skipped post secondary and jumped into the Fastlane & Entrepreneurship route straight away. But anyway, at this point it doesn't really matter and that discussion is for a completely different topic (just thought I'd briefly mention my take on it if anyone was curious).

The thing is, I am still not quite sure what should be my big first step to kick-off my journey. I hate to admit it, but the truth is that I have little to no experience in almost any field or topic in life. All I've been doing thus far in my life is work some crappy retail or restaurant jobs, and study useless theories after theories in high school and university without ever getting the chance to apply it and getting some hands-on, real life experience. I understand that I will need to create and do SOMETHING and learn as I go, but as I mentioned, I'm still trying to figure out what that something could be. So if anyone has any advice on that, regarding a generally good starting point, or something that worked for you or someone you know from personal experience, I would appreciate any input.

That being said, I do have multiple ideas on how I can start my journey, but my ideas would involve selling and marketing a physical product, and although it could be very useful and sell well, it will be a lot more expensive to start and success is not guaranteed. My other option is obviously to create my own website or app (probably website) and offer some kind of valuable service in exchange for money. But unfortunately, since WordPress is probably not good enough (it would be great if someone can confirm this) and since I do not know much about coding, I would have to either spend however long it takes to learn how to code (which I can and will do if I have to, I just need to know if it's worth my time and how long it will take), or have to hire and ask someone to help do it for me, except it may be a bit pricey and something I may not afford. So my question is, if I choose to go for the internet business, how long would it take me to learn how to code well enough to start creating a high quality & professional site and getting traffic? Would this be a better option than trying to hire a programmer to do it for me? And if I do hire a programmer and they do everything I ask them to do, will I be able to take over control of my website by myself if I do not know how to code? Because giving up equity over my potential online business over a lifetime is definitely not something I would like to do.

Finally, I would love to share with everyone my dream and what I am chasing after. The dream I always think about and the life I am striving to live does not have much to do with buying expensive cars and houses on the side of an ocean or something along those lines (maybe one day, but that's not the priority). My real and big dream is to constantly travel the world. I want to go everywhere and explore everything (well, not literally EVERYTHING, but you get the idea 😀), and hopefully with an amazing significant other to share all the memories and experiences with. And since I value experience so much, I do not want to EVER travel and have to decide on whether something is worth doing or buying based on how much it costs. My priority is to be able to afford to buy anything and everything, regardless of the cost, as long as it can provide me with an amazing experience that I'll have with me forever. So my goal is to travel all my life in a luxurious way, without having to ever worry about budgeting and prices of things, and hopefully meet some amazing people along the way and explore some interesting cultures. This will probably be my biggest motivation every day when I wake up and start working on my soon-to-be business (I am also thinking about starting travelling full-time once passive income starts coming in and I'll be successful with whatever it is I'll be doing - even before I reach the liquidation stage). Also depending how young I would be able to retire, I would love to give professional tennis a shot. I've been playing tennis for as long as I can remember, but unfortunately never too competitively or professionally; that being said, I would say that my level is advanced and I would certainly love to go that route if I ever get the chance and financially it won't be an issue (since it is very expensive and risky to go that route if your family is not rich). My final big goal and motivation for success is to help out my family. My family is unfortunately not one of the richest (but at the same time definitely not poor), and they have sacrificed A LOT for me and my sister so we can live a great life. So life for them at the moment is tough and they work many hours and don't earn a big enough income to even afford a vacation at least once a year. So definitely I want to give back to my family and share with them many of my future success so they would no longer have to worry about money, that they can retire soon as well, and do what they always wanted to do with their lives but couldn't because they had kids and themselves to support, especially when moving countries and everything in the beginning was difficult.

So here I am, fresh off of university with a lot of time in my hand, and with big goals, ambitions and the belief in my mind that I can live the kind of life I've always dreamed of. I am the kind of person that whenever I set a big goal for myself, I will give a 100% effort to try to achieve it no matter what, even if it means making some big sacrifices along the way. So working hard to make something great happen for myself will never be an issue for me, it's just knowing how to work smart and the right way to save as much time as possible that may just be a bit of a challenge in the beginning. I want to retire young, and I will do everything and anything to the best of my abilities make it happen as soon as possible. I believe that if others have done it before, then so can and will I.

If anyone could provide me with any feedback, advice, or suggestion from personal experience with regards to anything I have shared and discussed on here to help me get to where I wanna get sooner rather than later, I would really appreciate it :)

Thank you everyone in advance!

Would this be a better option than trying to hire a programmer to do it for me? And if I do hire a programmer and they do everything I ask them to do, will I be able to take over control of my website by myself if I do not know how to code? Because giving up equity over my potential online business over a lifetime is definitely not something I would like to have.

I also have been reading A LOT of self-development books in the past few months as well as useful tips and information from online articles for success. I ordered a lot of books since last September, but have only really been having the time to start reading them since the day I graduated, and there is still a long way to go. I also use Quora a lot and now will use this forum more, so I love learning new things about life & business rather than some stupid stuff in school that will be meaningless to me; and so it's also hard for me to figure out the right balance of how much in the day I should dedicate to learning, and how much to creating something and doing more business related work to accelerate my career through the fastlane route. I understand that failure will happen and is perhaps necessary to success, but I would like to learn a lot from people's mistakes to avoid it as much as possible and save as much time as I can that way - that's why I'm trying to learn so much about so many different topics, except the problem is that it reduces my time and generates no income.

I am also contemplating on whether or not I will be staying with my parents (who don't fully support me on this), or moving out sometime after end of September to live on my own and do my own thing without having any distractions and not having to live under someone else's roof and have them tell me what to and what not to do. The first option would obviously save me some more money, but the second option will give me more freedom and autonomy, so I'm still trying to figure that part out with regards to the next chapter in my life. I have some money saved up so once I start earning some decent income the second option would prob be more favorable. If anyone has any experience with that or has faced a similar situation in the past, it would be great if you can share what kind of decision you made and how well it turned out afterwards.

I also wanted to ask the following question to everyone who has pursued or is pursuing the fastlane road-map: How many hours a day, on average, do you spend working on your business? And how much have you spent when you first started (aka first year)? The reason I ask this is because as much as I want to reach retirement as early as possible, I still would like to have a decent social life, go outside, hang out with people, play some tennis, and of course meet a great partner and hopefully be in a relationship which will require me to dedicate some time into it of course. So to anyone who is or has gone that route, did you have time for any of that? Or your focus was 95+% on your business throughout the day and almost nothing else? I definitely would not mind making huge sacrifices and not doing the things I just mentioned, but for how long do you think I would have to do that before I can make some good passive income and work less each day to be able to afford to do those things at least at the bare minimum?

Finally, some questions to you MJ if you happen to read my post; you mentioned in your book that you spent a lot of time learning how to code through many books from the library as well as from other sources. My first question is - how long did it take you to learn everything you needed to start your own website? Also, how hard would you say it was to learn everything you did? And to add to that, how would you compare learning how to code back then when you started out, versus now? If you were starting out today in this day and age, would you still have learned how to code from scratch? Also, as the years went by, did you have to make any big adjustments due to technological advances? And if so, then how difficult would you say that was?

Finally, I would love to share with everyone my dream and what I am chasing after. The dream I always think about and the life I am striving to live does not have much to do with buying expensive cars and houses on the side of an ocean or something along those lines (maybe one day, but that's not the priority). My real and big dream is to constantly travel the world.
