I've found in talking with several people about MJ's much anticipated book, that most avid forum members all seem to have an idea of what should be in the book and how it should be written (myself included.) Just for kicks, I figured I'd ask what you guys are thinking in regards to the book as it's kinda interesting to see what everyone is hoping for.

So I guess my question is...what are you hoping will or won't be in the book and why?

I think it should be a definition of the fastlane and lot's of real life stories/examples of how the lifestyle has been attained. The definition has to include what is ultimately valuable, ie. choice, time, freedom, control....:fastlane:

Personally, I would love to see actual case studies with financial info laid out. The evaluation of a property/actual cash flow, etc. I would also like to see what creative tactics were used for finding or acquiring properties. And specifics about no money down/ seller carry-back examples, etc. Many books talk about theories, but actual case studies and figures and calculations would make this a much more valuable book, in my opinion.

While I would love to see this information (real estate guy myself), MJ is not writing a book on real estate but more or less the concept of taking control of your life and making the leap into the Fastlane (I'm sure many many great examples, anecdotes, and MJ's humor will all be included).

As for what I would like to see in the book, I hope I get a lot of what I put up in the parentheses above.

Whatever MJ decides to include will surely not dissappoint. I mean, hell, we all stuck around here this long for countless hours a day for a reason!!:cheers::cheers:

I agree completely, there are far more fastlane vehicles than real-estate only. It would limit peoples imaginations and creativity if MJ sells the route of business owner as the route to earning millions but then spends a large portion of his book analysing hypothetical REI deals.

Of course REI will get considerable mention seeing it is a great fastlane vehicle it probably won't be covered to the depth you mention Lauren but unless he dedicated the same number of pages in the book to writing about hypothetical startups in the thousands of business types one could choose going too far in depth with REI deals would limit the books appeal ...if he wrote about all the business types in depth his book would be 3 foot thick :D

If you look at the article portion of the site you will get an idea of what will probably be included, judging by his current articles I am sure the book will be a quality read and its success will only be limited by how well it is marketed upon release.

If MJ experiences success with his first book then he could leveage his name to release a REI book (perhaps in conjunction with an experienced REI guy like SteveO) or an e-commerce book with some of the experts he has worked with before and any number of more focused books under the 'Fastlane' title

That Yves Klein Gal said:

A really good recipe for chili.

Barring that, I guess some anecdotal stories to support the points in the book would always be appreciated. :)

:leaving: I think poetry would be a great idea.

As in...

"There once was a man from Nantucket
Who got tired of his job and told his boss to suck it..."

?

Or perhaps you were referring to the poem you wrote? ;)

There was a young man in Chicago . .
Who drove around folks--limo'd cargo
He then moved to Phoenix,
Sold his website for green-ix
Now he's cruisin' in his Murcielago. :)

(thank you, thank you very much . . .)

Michael-You're right. I definitely have a one-track mind (Real estate!) so for me, information on that aspect would be valuable. You had a great suggestion about having follow-up books co-authored by a specialist in a certain area, like real estate. RK did that in his books with his dream team of advisors on asset protection, OPM, writing Business Plans, etc. From reading an excerpt, I'm sure MJ's book will be informational, motivational and entertaining. Can't wait!
