I’m a product guy. I can’t help it. Every time I see an opportunity where a thing, a solution, or a process can be created I just get completely involved and obsessed with producing said thing, solution, or process until it does it job, does it well, and maybe even add something a little extra to increase it’s functionality/user-friendliness/likeabilty. It’s a gift and a curse — create an awesome product, but neglect marketing, networking, etc. etc. I’ve always excelled in art class, I was always in my element when I was building robots on my robotics team, and I grew up building anything and everything with LEGOs as a kid. The more I read about entrepreneurship here on TFF and elsewhere, the more I realize how lop-sided I am in regard to being an entrepreneur. Successful entre’s are a bit more balanced and use multiple skills in their arsenal to create and build companies, whereas inventors use those skills strictly towards the product. Does being an inventor or innovator who is inherently caught up in the product and the details prevent me from ‘going fastlane’? If I build a field they might not come. But what happens if I build Busch Stadium? Is there any hope for me?
