Smart people have a super-weakness of thinking they are unique. The truly narcissistic have this problem too, like me.
BS beliefs:
**
You don't follow proven methods because you're too good to copy others. Even if they're more successful, you think you're smarter.
Nobody has the same struggles you have, so common solutions wouldn't work.
**
Your problem is that you think you are unique.
To you, you are unique. You are the only YOU. Everyone else is "them". By default our brain tricks us into thinking we are unique because to be "you" is 1/1 in your own mind.
The solution is to view yourself in a more realistic way, as 'someone else'.
You know those bracelets: WWJD? ('what would johnny do' I think it stands for)
When you are faced with choices, it's easy to imagine what someone else would do. It's always harder to answer what YOU should do.
This practice will get you out of your own head, and get you on a more logical path.
When you look at yourself like you would a videogame character, you trivialize your life in a good way. You get out of your own head and start leveling up.
Your video game character doesn't have an identity crisis.
Your video game character has stats. There's a best car, a best house, a best wife, a best physique. You know what winning the game looks like.
Now when you go through life you reframe it through the lens of winning the game.
'What would my video game character do?'
This will help you get out of your own head and will allow you to see clearly.
What would you expect someone else to need to eat to get in shape?
What to-do list would you expect someone else to need to follow in order to become rich?
What does a winner's day look like?
Now tell me why your diet, to-do list, and your day, intentionally would be any different? Aren't you in charge of it?
If you already knew what it would take to win...
and you're in control...
and you WEREN'T doing what it takes...
...
You have to ask why you were unconsciously sabotaging yourself.
If you're auditing all of your actions...
Do these actions lead to success or failure?
Why were you doing these failing actions? Why are you working so hard to sabotage yourself?
Disassociate with seeing yourself as 'you' for a bit, and look at yourself in the 'video game character' lens, and align your goals and actions with what winning looks like.
