When you first start out in entrepreneurship, you'll focus on whatever your dream lifestyle is. If you love snowboarding, it's how can I build a business that let's me go snowboarding all of the time.
I followed this path a long time while building my music blog and was able to create an asset that allowed me to travel to music festivals and concerts for free.
However, this mentality is the wrong approach.
Why?
Because you don't want a job that allows you to do whatever activity you desire all of the time, you want to create freedom. The freedom to do what you like, when you like.
You can do this through online entrepreneurship and creating multiple lines of income. So my first music blog is still very much an asset that I keep. It's an asset... a property.
Now building my new company NaturalStacks, I'm creating an even bigger asset. We're crushing sales this month because of a product that works and just landed a big endorsement deal that should bring us right to the top of public consciousness.
Each day I go to work (on my laptop) and get to do the thing that I love (build businesses).
What this business has created through is the freedom so I can travel and have the flexibility to spend my time as I like. This week I'm taking Wed - Fri off and going to see Skrillex with a bunch of friends in Washington DC.
If I had a regular job working in whatever field it is that I prefer, I wouldn't be able to do this.
The lesson?
Create income streams that install freedom in your life.
Don't get caught up chasing the "ideal lifestyle". Build it yourself.
