Hi everyone,
I am following this forum for a while, but this is my first post here. First of all I want to thank MJ for writing this book. This amazing piece of work is a golden bible. No bullshit, no non sense secrets, no guru’s masquerade; only well define facts. It changes your vision. Period. I can honestly say that I am not the same man since I read it.
A little bit about me before going any further. I am a man in the early forties, I have a good job in the IT world earning in the early six figures, I enjoy life, I train hard and I always smile. But I am not ashamed to say that I am the typical sidewalker (as defined in MJ’s book). I like to think that I am a successful man, but I slowly realize that I am nothing more than a tool for other men to get rich from my work.
Everything seemed to be fine …until few months ago. Being a manager in the large IT Company I work for, I started to meet and work with higher profile people: CEO, CTO, Chairmans … and realized that those people are not really smarter than I am. They just took more risks and worked harder. I will never be jealous of them since they deserve everything they have. I am the one who needs to adjust to jump to the next level.
So I started to ask myself how a guy of my age, leading projects that are sold for few hundred thousand dollars a pop, was ending up having no serious retirement plan. I really fear for my old days. So I started to look around to have a clearer view of the business world and started to read entrepreneurs books …leading me to “The Fastlane Millionaireâ€.
Long story short, I opened my eyes, stopped F*cking around and I found a large gap in the industries I am working in. I could not believe that I did not see this before. This thing is the perfect fastlane road, respecting the 5 fastlane commandments and should quickly grow passive income. A coworker quickly accepted to partner with me to fill that gap. I did not leave my job yet, but I am working an extra 20 hours a week to develop our product that I would like to introduce early after the holidays. I am tired, but I enjoy working on my baby … this is not work for me. Yes it is tough on my girlfriend, kids and friends …but I know it will pay in the end, so I am counting on their support. If it doesn’t for a reason, then I will find something else. I understood that no success is a straight line.
Now I just need to carefully make all my moves but I know that we will do errors. I know that we still have to learn a lot from the sales and new product introduction perspectives … but I am ready to read more and meet people who will teach me the missing parts.
I just wanted to encourage you by saying that there are opportunities everywhere; just keep your eyes open. For me, stopping playing Playstation and watching TV threw me in that big adventure. Even if I did not see a dime yet, I can see the people around me getting excited about our product. And this is all that count for now.
I started this thread so I will update on my project at least once a month …
