One day, I spoke to one of my mentors. He is considered a ‘real estate shark’; this guy is the toughest son of a bitch I know. He is a true powerhouse, think of a Jewish version of a Sir. Allen Sugar. This guy is rough. As we were speaking about business, I mentioned I had been trying to investigate this concept of creating a ‘super-self’ and getting the same results Bradley Cooper achieved in the film Limitless. He said something I’ll never forget. “Well, why don’t you just do it?â€
“What do you mean, do it?†I asked.
“What are you trying to achieve here, really?†he asked me.
“I want to create a super-self, like in the movie: higher motivation, better focus, higher sense of awareness, more energy, etc.â€
Now, I am by no means a lazy person. I work very hard, but I had a certain vision of what my life would be like if I did take that pill.
“I want to be like Bill Gates was when he started his business,†I added.
For those of you who don’t know his story, Bill Gates would sleep at his office. He would work hard and love it. He took Microsoft from a nothing company operating from a lousy motel room into the empire it is today. He was a ‘business beast’ when it came to being a ‘super-self’; in fact, he utilized every bit of brain power when building Microsoft. He would work hard and get amazing results; he was on the right track to achieving what was considered ‘impossible’ at the time, and he did it just like the character in the movie did. That’s what I was after.
“Bill Gates was a ‘business beast’ as you call him, not because he watched some F*cking film and suddenly decided he want to be a super-self; it’s because he had the ‘bug.’â€
“The bug?†I asked.
“Yes, that little bug in his head that kept him super-focused on his goal and helped him do what he did at the time.â€
This conversation was getting interesting.
“Wow, how do I get this bug?â€
His response shocked me, but it also helped me understand the ‘secret’ behind self improvement, performance enhancements, and the concept behind Limitless and what I found so enchanting about it.
“You don’t ‘get it’—you either have it, or you don’t.â€
Well, that doesn’t seem fair, does it?
But before I could ask another question, he explained.
“If you don’t have it, it’s because you choose not to have it. You think it’s something on th outside you need to get, as if it’s something that’s not already within you. It’s simple—if you want to be Bill Gates, then be Bill Gates. Who’s stopping you?â€
