I just came across a giant Facebook ad that let me to https://www.touchofmodern.com/
I clicked the link because I wanted to see the watch shown in the ad, but when I arrived at the page a box popped up requiring that I enter my e-mail before I could see their website. I don't care if they have my e-mail, but the idea that I was forced to enter it just to see their products annoyed me enough that I just left the website. (obviously I came here to post about it next)
This seems like a horrible waste of advertising to me. I get that they want to collect e-mails, but why not just offer a coupon code if I enter my e-mail rather than requiring it?
Maybe I'm wrong and this strategy works well. I'm just curious.
