And Bill Gates will be my butler!
I've noticed a lot of these threads popping up every so often. I'll be a millionaire by ....
Really? What business are you in? Oh I work at a gas station!
Why set a deadline? Or even a number? When you set a deadline like that it is a set up for failure. How will you feel if you don't accomplish it by the time set? What if you only make half a million? It will take away the achievement.
Your focus is in the wrong place here. Maybe instead of focusing on what you will get, try focusing on what business you will start, what it will do, who it will help and how to execute the business. I would far more appreciate a thread titled "I will have such and such of an impact in the app industry next year by doing this ....."
Anyone remember the 80s British sitcom Only Fools And Horses? The main character Del Boy said in nearly every episode "This time next year we'll be millionaires!" It took seven seasons and hundreds of failed attempts to make it and when he did he ended us saying "This time next year we'll be BILLIONAIRES!!!" The fun was in the chase. I think there is a lot of reality in that. The successful people seem to be the ones where the effort goes into the business not on spending the money from it.
The money will come so don't worry about it. My favourite quote from MJ is the story about the cat. You have to attract it. Next time you feel like posting a thread about how rich you will be when you start the next facebook try set goals and process instead.
In the next few months I will be self employed.
I am going to start an app company that will help people by xyz. I will hustle on the side to pay my bills.
This time next year I want the company to help X by doing Y.
Etc, etc, etc.
You might just find people will be more interested in what you have to say and maybe offer good advice. I know there are PLENTY people on the forum with amazing advice to give. You have to give back, give them something to be interested in. Sound like the serious businessman you want to be not some kid chasing money.
