Hi All and thanks MJ for the book and the forum. I'm been loving the great insights into the entrepreneurial mindset.
To introduce, I'm 38 and married, no kids. I have worked my a$$ off for about 15 yrs getting through the obstacle course that is specialist medical training and becoming established as a consultant specialist. I thought the way forward was to be the best I could at a skill and get paid well for it and all would be dandy.
However, I've always been someone who values time more than anything and after I took a look at my life, I realised that I am still a wage slave. I get paid very well and my hours are somewhat flexible, however it still comes down to trading finite time for money, without the scalability and passivity that business endeavours offer.
Trouble is that for me, I've gotten to the point that I can generate a few hundred thousand a year through direct exertion, with some flexibility, so in a way, I have to be more successful than the average entrepreneur to not be going backwards. I figured it would be a waste to begin again, learning coding or something and trying to compete with the guys fresh out of school in building a startup. I'm thinking this may lead me to starting a side gig initially, possible in a medical field so that I can use my experience as a type of barrier to entry... I am thinking hard looking for a need but at the moment coming up blank. I probably need to change my mindset a bit and do some unlearning of chronic institutional thinking...
Happy to hear any suggestions or ideas for my situation.
Cheers
