Hi everyone,
I am 28 years old from Toronto. I'm a typical millennial that bought into the slowlane premise, even though I've been a 'wantrapreneur' for quite some time. I read the millionaire fastlane for the first time in 2011 (after graduating college) or so, but never took any action. I can't believe how fast 6 years have passed.
I realize that I've betrayed myself and have lived my life not the way I want to, but the way I'm supposed to.
I went to university, got a degree in Economics, toiled away in some shitty low paying after graduating for about a year that I could do straight out of high school until I got a an entry level finance job that could potentially be the start of a career path.
The truth is, I was working at a stock brokerage providing customer service. By that I mean I was getting bitched at by clients, because our platform was shit, our fee structure was dishonest, and people didn't bother reading the agreements that they sign.
I talked to a lot of sidewalkers, who would blow money in the stock market due to sheer ignorance then try to shift the blame on others.
I hated the job and just did the bare minimum to not get fired. About a year and a half into the job and realizing that I don't have the attitude or the motivation to have a regular career, I decided to quit the job that paid me a regular salary and work as a day trader on 100% commission.
I was excited, motivated, and determined that I'm going to crash the markets and be rich. It turned out to be much harder than I thought, and I didn't make money for about 8-9 months. After that, I started making some money, but the company I was working for would take the majority of it. The inconsistency of trading as well as the possibility of going negative eventually got to me. Feeling pressure from my parents and seeing my friends advance in their careers, I admitted defeat, and got an entry level job in IT.
Fast forward two years, I have the same job, I haven't learned anything new in a long time, I don't like any of the roads that I can follow from this job.
I had essentially fully given up until I came across a professor of psychology on youtube called Jordan Peterson. I watched some of his videos, and bought a program from him called 'Future Authoring program', that's supposed to figure out the type of life you want and work towards it.
With newfound motivation and hope, I re-read the 'The Millionaire Fastlane ' and I am ready to work towards making my goals a reality.
