Well, after several weeks of absence from my recently-adopted fastlane mindset (and subsequently, absence from this forum), I'm back.
I always knew there would be times of slow or no progress, but I hardly expected to just lose sight completely of my fastlane plan.
First, my wife and I had a major slump to work through because of a dumb--- nearly marriage-fatal slip-up on my part. We had been losing touch with important aspects of our relationship for a while and it took a major event to bring some of them to light. Thank goodness it did. Things are good and we now know a lot more about each others' true needs, desires, dreams, etc. There's quite a steep learning curve in the beginning of marriage for some of us! (2 yrs. for us)
Anyway, money was fairly tight when I began the fastlane planning, so we decided to sell one of our vehicles to free up some funds to be put to better use. We also decided to sell our old house for negative money to get rid of the obligation and cut our losses...thanks to some helpful suggestions on this site.
The outcome? The vehicle has been priced a few thousand below its competition, and a fair bit less than we owe on it...NO interest at all. I suppose people are afraid of 'the price of gas' as it is an SUV. The house has not sold, either...with or without an agent (luckily it's being rented for 2/3 the pmt.). More proof that I need to be prepared for worst-case scenarios.
So, all of this combined, plus my JOB getting to be stagnant somehow diverted my focus back to 'slowlane' processes. Job hunting, seeing the fastlane plan as some sort of fantasy, and generally convincing myself that it was a waste of time to try to succeed outside the 'ladder climb' process and a 'secure' paycheck.
Well, I finally have my head back in tune, so here I am. Why? Because my wife and mother-in-law kept asking, "So, how's the website/business coming along?" This past week I was asked this again...at that point I realized I was just making lousy excuses, justifying, being close-minded and denying myself success by not taking the chance to succeed. :idx:
By the way, the site looks great and activity seems to be very high! Nice to see.
Thanks for reading,
John
