What up What up everyone,
I read Tony Robbins MONEY: Master the Game which i thought was quite insightful. A year later i wanted to find that same book in a different language so that my fiancee can be 'on my level' haha. But in doing so I happened to read a review someone left on its Amazon page that said something like "this book sucks, but Unscripted will blow your mind''. So i read it, at first i didnt like it because he mentions the word UNSCRIPTED in every sentence which made me feel like an idiot reading it but after first few chapters i was like boy am i glad i kept going haha. Then i realized its not the first book and that i really should read that and I read Millionaire Fastlane right after. Here we are.
Having talked about how we can break free from being broke with the boys at the weekly/monthly gatherings for years now i wasnt sure how to do it. I have played a decent role in my family's bakery, watching them open right before covid and then survive through covid i was amazed by how hard they worked. Then i was asked to play a key role in a clinic that was opening up and fast forward a year and a half and some strong performance, im the manager getting paid semi decently for a guy with no mortgage or car payments to pay (i live with parents and share their main car most of the time going to work or what not). After having these experiences i thought starting a business is the stupidest thing ever because everyone works like a dog and is no where near rich, infact the owners work like dogs and make less or equal to an average employee salary in north america. So i turned to crypto naturally lol. I made some good investments that werent rash and thought thats my foot in the door to being rich. Once i have some decent money to my name then i will actually have the opportunity to either start or invest in businesses that actually make me money, so ill just wait for those to hopefully skyrocket. Then i read MJs books and now i understand that the way my family's business was set up was wrong, and the clinic itself is also not exactly a great design that allows autonomy in the future. But that can be done.
Few weeks have passed since reading the books i decided to check out the forum. Im ready to dive into starting my own business but i am going to do it more safely than i think MJ would approve of lol. Although im a young dude (26), i am expecting to start a family soon and I need to support them, as well as my aging parents that have worked too hard for too long. I thought quitting work would be too risky and stupid, so to take the middle road i found someone to work at the clinic to take some days off the table and now i am working 3-4 days a week instead of 6, add a pay raise and i kept my previous salary working 6 days. I also started contracting out of no where cause F*ck it i always imagined myself as being a$$ at networking and being social so i never bothered to try. But i read Never Split the Difference and wanted to test it out thinking if it works, would be pretty juicy to make a weeks wages in one contracting deal and an hours worth of time. So i grabbed my balls hard and went knocking on some doors pretending i can be of value. First door i knocked on didnt open, second one did and we ended up doing their roof lol. I made a grand in a basically a total of 1 hours worth of conversations who the hell would have thought. *enter Paul Rudd's "hey look at us who, would have thought? Not me!"*. So turns out i can really be of value. I really hope that will become a solid skill i have which will allow me to replace my monthly income and full time work, with a days worth of doorknocking/contracting to them support my business creations and ideas (so far ever since that fist deal its been very rough). Thus giving me time and money to work with.
This feels a little wrong because the gist from MJs reading i feel like is that your supposed to dive in to the ocean with no life-line. By doing that you will have your back to a corner and this is where your purest creation and execution comes out. But as much as i am a risk taker i have to answer to my familys needs, and god forbid a few years pass and i have a kid and family i cant afford to pay for and im relying on my aging parents for more help.
Scary times to try and start a business but i am honestly majorly confident about my ability to execute and create. I feel the excitement bubbling up, now its just about finding those opportunities with scale or magnitude. Hopefully im rich in 4 years or something haha, here i come World
