Last year, I launched a classical music concert series. This was created as a personal project rather than for business purposes. I studied my entire life to become a musician but ended up taking a 9-5 job to pay the bills etc. and wanted to create my own opportunities and put my skills/talents to the test.
It has only been a few months since I came across the Millionaire Fastlane and have since dived headfirst into this new way of thinking about my future. I realize now that this concert series isn't a potential Fastlane business opportunity but due to it's relative success (in terms of publicity and local awareness rather than revenue), I'm a little reluctant to turn my back on it.
My question is this: since I have already launched a business (of sorts) should I continue with this project and use it as a training ground for implementing lessons learned, or should I put it aside and concentrate on something new that has more potential to succeed in the fastlane?
I'm unsure how to proceed but have the following prevalent thoughts...
1. Classical music is perceived as uncool, behind the times and stuffy (though, does that mean there is potential for a marketable solution here...?)
2. The current business model for "successful" classical music outfits is based on an aging donor base and endowments, NOT revenue from selling a remarkable product/s (can the model be changed...?)
3. Music is my passion...I am wary of creating a business based on something that I enjoy rather than what people need and that will generate money.
I'm sure there are plenty of other factors and specifics at play that would provide for a full answer to such a question, but I would love to hear your initial thoughts. Thanks!
