Hi, I'm Night Flyer!
Some basic info about me:
21 year old male, born and reside in the US, Computer Science major, not too excited about joining the "workforce".
Now that you have a good idea in your mind of who I am, let me explain why I'm here as briefly as possible:
The word "business" scares me, I'm not even sure if this forum is right for me. Whenever I hear someone refer to their career as running a business, I just envision them sitting at a desk making a billion phone calls and balancing checkbooks for hours on end. I don't exactly want that to be what my life looks like or maybe my thoughts on business are mistaken. I want something I can wake up every day super excited to do and not to just be a cog in the machine. (Reading Finding Your Element by Ken Robinson for this) Maybe by picking a few brains here I can get a clearer image on that?
How did I end up here?
Well, I am a reader of the Bold & Determined blog (I'm not a spammer, I promise) and it linked this site for any youngster that does not want to be poor in the 9-5 cycle. It said to read this forum vigorously until I understand how to put my business together... So here I am! Lay the information on me!
How much do I know?
I just read this thread about the majority of people being stupid. Thinking about how I spend my money, I'm already a bit smarter than stupid. I don't buy things out of my budget and I understand compounding interest and why it's so important to get rid of debt. But thing is is that I don't make that much money (we're talking $400/mo). I'm in school and I have a part-time job plus my parents nearly paid off my college tuition (they've been saving since I was 3) so I feel like I don't have much "experience" with money or at least making it the "right" way. I feel like when I get out of college I'm going to get overwhelmed with bills and buying my own car.
Long story short:
I don't like the direction my financial life is heading. What do I need to do to fix that while remaining passionate about it? It would be great for some links to threads that answer some of the aforementioned questions.
Thanks,
Night
