I have been in the back and forth process of trying to decide if I want to sell an on-line business that I have built up that is based in a time for money kind system. I started mostly to learn how to set up an online business and really get into a routine of blogging, social media and self promotion. I wanted to learn the how-to's and get paid. That was my original intent then making money while I learned seemed like great idea.
At this point I am truly burned out on it and I thought about selling it then my lawyer suggested that I use it as a business incubator for other intuitive that want to learn how to set up their own programs and systems but do not have the know- how to do it on their own. Basically I would truly vet the people my brand would bring in as a featured celebrity for six months to a year while they learn their own systems and build on what I provide for them in pre-written auto responders and such. Then when they are ready they take their intellectual content with them ready for their new site or whatever they chose to do.
It would also be a good ground for teaching best practices in customer services something that I am known for in my circles.
The whole reason other than burn out that I am even considering this is because I was offered a conflict resolution gig with an area Native American Tribe. They want me to come in and help them problem solve their tribal government implosion. I have a knack for conflict resolution and strategic planning for tribal governments. When I popped a quote to them, I thought they would not be able to afford. I was pleasantly surprised they said yes. If I go and do this I will have very little time to fart around with my current website. Doing conflict resolution and leaving it to the tribes to put in the effort and work with three days of intensive guidance and following up planning puts me closer to the freedom goals of my time and my money. This meets the control, entry, need and time qualifiers. If I keep at this I believe I can come up with a technical assistance model for tribal governments that the US gov will contract in the future. Which would meet the Scale component because they could transfer it to conflict resolution in smaller countries and tribal sectors where we have interest.

I would love to know if any of you have had this dilemma: Do you hold onto a business a little longer and build the brand then sell it when it is going strong or do you just sell and get what you can? Also what are your considerations for bringing in new consultants or subcontractors to help build the brand to turn around and sell it -hopefully to one of them?

I would also love to know if anyone has ever contracted with the FED for technical assistance work ups and if it what I envisioned it would be? I should insert I am not a person who likes the idea of big gov in any shape or form, but if they are my best paying customer who am I to complain.
