Hello everyone,
I recently decided to try to resale on Ebay after reading a few pages of Ecom Man's post https://www.thefastlaneforum.com/co...porting-wholesaling-for-resale-on-ebay.51843/
I began by ordering a few I phone 5/5s covers off of dhgate.com These covers depict various disney, spider man and nickelodeon cartoon characters attempting to eat the apple on the back of iPhones. My motivation for picking this product was that the I phone 6 will be coming out and there would be a large influx of I phone 5's on the ebay market. I figured that many people would want these cool covers for their I phones. I bought these covers out of impulse and money chasing as I saw what they were selling for on Ebay and that most of them were shipping from China. There was a small amount of US sellers to compete with and shipping would be much quicker. After I made this order of 300 cases for 213.00 usd with a 3% foreign transaction fee, I decided to do some research "DUE DILIGENCE" too late. I learned that these cases had copyrights and trademarks and that I could be SUED for SELLING them. They finally arrived after 7 days. The pictures that dhgate depicts them with have black apples and never show them with the gold or silver apples on the back of the phones. These also look terrible on black I phones. As of right now they are just collecting dust in my basement.I just wanted to share my experience with everyone and what I learned below will be pics of these cases, and a list of lesson I learned in importing. Feel free to ask questions and comment.
Lessons learned
1. Don't order items with trademarks or are branded cartoons.
2. Always ask for samples
3. Just because it's on ebay and an american user is selling does not mean it's legal.
4. Take time selecting things for resale.
5. If there are few U.S. sellers it may be for a reason.
6. Making mistakes with the wrong products will clear the path to the right ones.
