New here...our product is an early childhood music education scheme and is already in testing, close to ready for full product release. I am having difficulties finding hands-on classroom materials that I need to make the program work, specifically, a set of hands-on musical symbols (manipulatives) that the children touch and work with during the class. We recently did a test with a carpenter that cut these props out of wood with a CNC router. The wood product is exceptional, but the cost to cut them added to the labor cost to finish/sand and paint them is not a cost effective solution. I believe that, rather than making long-lasting durable product out of these manipulatives I could instead have these cut out of EVA foam--this is kind-of a trend nowadays it seems. Once they wear out I anticipate that I could perhaps sell replacements for a low reasonable price to existing customers.
I need advice on how I would go about getting these props manufactured. Do I stay domestic...find an overseas agent? I am not clear on how EVA foam is formed or cut so I am not sure how to proceed. I suppose like most people I am an expert in my field but know little about other industries. I believe I need someone to point me in the right direction regarding how small businesses get things manufactured. In addition, I believe I will need to work with a manufacturer who will be able to produce these props that will pass CPSC toy testing requirements--another area, compliance, that I know little about.
Any advice you could offer would be appreciated...
Yours Sincerely,
Danny
