The Domino law
If you wish to affect one thing at a time slowly people will resist you
If you wish to affect many things at a time to get a job done quicker and better people will grease wheels for you

Getting through the doors of an old business can be brutal. You are not sure of yourself, you feel a bit fraudulent, and you are expected to match someone of higher esteem, so that you can have success and make money.
So you better get this right, right!?
You enter a store after having taken years of preperation to get this one pitch "right", but you are shocked when the secretary doesn't welcome you as a god and lay down rose petals, and when the harsh speaking execs get to you, you are fumbling around and then dismissed. You assume you just aren't good at this stuff, you shrink and you try for the perfect comeback product! One they surely cannot ignore!!!

Before I give you the conclusion to that behaviour set and give you the solution I wanna share a little story. I dropped out of highschool and went to a small "startup" coaching program way back when. I created a service that taught security guards to avoid litigation and ensure safer practices in the htels they were contracted to work for etc.
Everyone thought the idea was genius, it cost virtually zero money for me to start, and was pretty straight forward. Go in, get a deal with the security guard companies, and then deliver the service.

"Thats great!" they said, deluded to the fact that I was working on the wrong side of the domino law, because I would not move mountains to get in and talk to these execs. What happened instead was that because I was afraid they'd call me too young, fraudulent, etc, I went off to design a program they would respect. As I worked on it, I realised more and more how much I didn't care, and how much I could get away with not doing anything. I would sit down, do work, and no one was looking or helping, it was just me. Eventually, forgetfulness took over, and I never learnt the key ingredients to that business.
- Relationships with clients
- Reputation
- Clear and percievable value in terms of better contracts and minimised risk to their firm
- A great offer that would have them say "great lets get this done"
I could have serviced a market for the whole country before anyone knew what was up.

But I didn't.
I actually more than didn't do that, I ignored that the guys who run these offices were capable of championing someone like me, and helping me service their industry in its state and get it to change.

The Domino law, means that if you try to perfect one domino BEFORE you are willing to get into other dominos too, you will decay and fall off target. (focusing on one thing and killing it is great in business planning and you should do one thing a day, the domino law is more about initial approach)

The result was that by trying to perfect myself before I hit one domino, I talked myself out of it.
And it was a long journey back until I would have such opportunity again.

The solution to this problem is to REACH OUT, and to stir things up, into motion. To get people behind you, who are at the top, and to expand your expertise, as you deliver what you can and keep yourself accountable to a high standard of moving mountains for your clients.
Having this mentality causes people to JUMP for you and to push you in the right directions, so that all the dominoes will fall.

When you are a domino chain, it will knock down doors for you. And if you can handle that pressure of performance, you will gain true experience and be referred to as a good service or product in your industry.

If you are in an industry and you are fearing taking the plunge, remember to rattle the dominos, so that they can tell, you will move mountains to see them all fall down, then THEY WILL HELP you, and the few who don't will wish they did.

The BIG MISTAKE for those who wish to take action, is that they fixate on one domino. DO NOT EVER DO THIS!!! Do one thing a day, YES, it takes focus, but not one thing a whole lifetime, or it will fester and fail.
Only the domino law can open the doors. And before you master it, it will keep them closed.

DO NOT perfect a plan, knock down the dominoes!

Now back to the story. There you are in the store, feeling like a fraud. They rejected you because you imagined that they wouldn't listen to you or respect you. So you go back to the drawing board, in order to perfect a product or service.

But what you don't see, is that you have already failed.
Because it isn't about the product or service, its about you. The person who either delivers, or does not.
Getting "even" by making "good product" when you ignore the wants and needs of clients is a strategy that fails again and again and takes WAY TOO MUCH TIME!!!
It will send you in a spiral, going in again and again with your product, not ever realising that the product isn't the issue, its you adaptability and your forthrightness.
People listen to PEOPLE first, they don't listen to products, unless you get to the point where you explain it and explain it WELL.

Then YOU are in control. And if you continue to want to rustle the dominos and move mountains for clients, they'll love you and push you ahead.
