I lost 10k in the stock market in the past 8 months. I have 8K in a TSP/Roth IRA (and now putting more until I have plan on what to do with my money). I was overly optimistic and not set in the reality of what was going to happened. I am already over it, since it doesn't factor to my everyday life besides the too-expensive lessons I learn. I figure risk is essential to make success happen, but how I went about it was reckless. (Failure)
Yet, if I wasn't in the military, I would feel the pain so much. I already done 3 years (1 more year left in the contract). The military is not like your average slowlane job, but it's still slowlane. I am debating whether to leave or change my job in the military (to learn new skills, see foreign countries, continue my stress-free life). I do not want to lie, but I get happiness out of the military because it feels like an adventure on uncharted land, I saw Korea, the Middle East, cities of the US. If I hated it more than I like it, the doubt in my head would be clear, since I have a GI bill in my hand.
I will have to change my job though, since I feel like I already done this/done that type feeling. I will end up most likely as an analyst. I'm not doing this to get a good job, but just a skills I could apply to my personal life. I am a different person than I was 3 years ago. And I want to do my fastlane ideas on the side (the stocks was something I once consider fastlane, but it's unreliable), to prevent heading to the gutter altogether.
If I am developing skills through the military, am I being absolutely slowlane?
