As MJ mentions, being a highly paid athlete or singer/actor can be very fastlane-- if you can get yourself noticed, and get the big bucks (AND-- figure out how to parlay your talent into a long-term financial freedom, ala Magic Johnson, or many others).

There are plenty of extremely successful singer/producers-- and they got that way by being interested in (and showing a talent for) not just singing, but the "tech" and business end as well.
