Utah is an MLM wonderland. In my county ALONE there are at least 29 MLMs operating right now @_@ And in the whole state there are, at the very least, 62 operating MLMs.
If you want to start a multilevel company, this is the Promised Land.
People here just LOVE joining these things in search of their fastlane to sudden wealth, only to find out too late that it was all just a farce. And yet, these companies just keep coming, sucking the same people in over and over and over.
The "big winner" here that all these companies are trying to be like is Nu Skin International.
Despite being sued (and paying out) multiple times for being a pyramid scheme, misrepresenting distributor income (to entice new distributors), misrepresenting their products, and selling something that doesn't actually exist (wth?!), they actually made the Forbes "Top 100 Most Trustworthy Companies" list. I wish the people I know had the crazy short memory of Nu Skin fans, they'd stop reminding me about ... things *cough* ;;>___>

I just read this article in the local news XanGo employees laid off as new strategy announced | ksl.com
Xango is a juice company... a special juice company that uses Mangosteen *insert oohs and ahhs here* that "saves lives" and that can make you and your community fabulously wealthy! Unless you're one of the poor saps that just got laid off. If only you guys had joined the company when they started, you'd actually be rather well off. Don't worry though, they'll hire you back... but only part time so they don't have to pay for your insurance, and at lower hourly wages. Gotta implement that new strategy, don'tcha know?
The lesson here? Heed the Commandment of Control so a crap company can't screw you over despite being "phenomenal producers".
