I know nothing of Virtual private servers so i started to do some research this morning.
I figured i wont waste my time on a shared host considering im running a custom web app with lots of server-side processes.
I have heard no so good things about godaddy VPS or hostgator VPS.
Here are my concerns-
That they are big enough where i dont have to worry about:
-the company going out of business.
-low customer support
-the company getting hacked
-they are not resellers
I have no web server administration knowledge/experience.
I have dealt with a shard host account (go daddy) but it was pretty easy and laid out for inexperienced people.
Is a VPS more technical, anyway to cope with that because im sure the learning curve is steep?
Also it would be nice if they provided burstable memory and some sort of control panel.
The site handles emails in between users so if you private message someone the site sends out an email and tells you just like this forum.
So if there is a random amount of people all at once sending messages, i think it would slow the site down, would "burstable memory" come in handy at these points? Is burstable memory b.s, i have heard of people commonly misunderstanding the term.
Are there ad ons i need to figure $ for?
Ive researched and read articles but i always like to come here and ask people i have some trust with
rather than trust random blogs.
If someone could give me some direction on what VPS service to use in which they have had over a year of experience with id really appreciate it.
I appreciate everyone knowledge and responses, thank you.
