Hi!
My background:
- family guy living a comfortable life
- senior web programmer (10 year experience)
- several years in sales before
- several failed startups with a partner (e-store and IT service)
I've read the fastlane millionare quite a long time ago and I understand its principles though so far my business ventures were not successful. There is some loss of confidence because of that and I'm thinking what path should I take. The reasons for my failures were mostly related to diving into fields I know little about, progressing too slowly, not knowing too much about running a business in general.
Also, I live in a small country (Lithuania) where most opportunities are in IT (to reach foreign markets) and from my experience IT is winner-takes-all super intensive and risky market which takes your life and brings profits (possibly massive) years later, bad work-life balance as well. Here most not giant IT businesses (basically not global leaders) are short-lived and die after technology gets outdated or need to constantly spend a lot of energy to evolve. Non-IT businesses based in brick and mortar locations here struggle to get good value investments (I know from other people who are involved in that) because of fear of war in upcoming decades, I think that is reasonable logic. Well that's the mindset from my limited overview right now...
What I would like is to transition from my current job (programming) into having a long-term stable business (not necessarily fastlane type even). Not aiming at billions (or even millions) but more at stability, little risk, longevity, freedom of movement and time (at least in the future). I'm thinking I should go to some business or brand-building school, but maybe you have better ideas?
I came here to ask for advice on good business/brand-building schools but what would you do in place in general?
Thanks a lot, have a great day!
