I have a great idea for a website. It fulfills a big need in my city and would get a lot of regional traffic (and hopefully national-level if it's a hit and I can expand). That said, I know very little about web design. I've started teaching myself and am able to see I have a lot to learn before I would be able to build something as complex as I'd like (the site will have a search engine that uses an algorithm....so, pretty complicated in my book). So, should I just give up the idea of building it myself and hire someone to do it? It just seems like...cheating...to hire someone. Plus I worry about not being completely in the loop on how it works and runs. How would I maintain complete control if I always have to ask someone else to fix things? I still have a bunch of background work to do (to develop the content on the site), but otherwise most of the work will be in the programming. It seems like most founders of websites did the programming themselves, so it just seems like the way you're supposed to do it, but it will take years for me to build it that way. I've got about 25K to use to start this up. Thoughts?
Edited: I read through more of the posts here and see my question has been asked before. I'm sorry if that's tiresome! I'd really like some fresh opinions on my specific situation, though.
