OK guys, it's been awhile since I've last posted in here, but, here's an update into my current endeavours..
Last December, in the middle of my shift at work, an idea drove itself into my brain at a comparable force as a point shot from Shea Weber catching you in the face.
It wasn't an instant monetary gain idea, or a company idea, but an invention. Which I won't disclose information on just yet due to my patent still being worked on along with final design etc.
Anyways, stepping back in the storyline, the idea hit me, and I instantly grabbed a notepad and pen and started drafting and jotting down every single minute to large detail I could, dating and photographing each page as well, to have a sense of security that what I come up with will undoubtedly be in my full control.
After a full shift of writing and documenting, I went into full gear with researching possible competition, to which I was surprised to find none, and design and materials to be used along with reasoning and proof as to why said materials would outperform current possible variations.
I then went ahead and contacted the patent board, who then connected me with a company to aid me in bringing my idea to life, by way of visual representation and proper webpage guidance and marketing. I designed every step of it, from beginning, to the nearly finished end product.
I currently work full time, generating upwards of 120k yearly income, which definitely helped me with the insane exchange rate I faced with the Canadian to American dollar difference during my progress.
Now, the end is coming, and I've lost sleep, gained morale, and learned lots during the stages up until now, but what I'm left with is this one slightly confusing and uncertain step towards the marketing part.
I've been in the same industry for almost 8 years, and have observed and troubleshot and perfected hundreds of issues and variables we faced over those years, all the while stressing and constantly dreaming and thinking of a better way, which ultimately resulted in the invention. which I should shine light on slightly, in the next paragraph.
The invention is a safety device, to be used in an unrestricted amount of various industries and countries world wide, it's an all new type of an existing safety device that has far too many cons than pros. I've covered every variation and even seperate designs of the product, colours, shape size etc you name it, have already finalized logo, name, everything. If it's important, I've got it included in the patent. But my overall question to the fast lane is, now that I've come this far, what would your next step be in your opinions.
In my head, regardless of a success or fail in the long run, I plan to complete the invention, and when the marketing stages come, which I am also in full control of, I aim to market through Internet, and to go site to site talking to engineers and supervisors in an attempt to gain a consumer base In order to strike interest and have it go to market in the hurricane force I believe it could have.
Being that I have many years in the industry that I have as the main target, I think starting there would be beneficial to the quest? And as I see it, with the potential of it becoming a multi million dollar idea, which would be unbelievably amazing, my main focus is actually on workplace safety, having lost afew people in my life along the way due to lack of it.... whether I make millions, or hundreds, or none, at least at the end of it all I made a difference?
Please throw your tomatoes and shoes this way if I've missed something, and if I haven't, hopefully this gives some time killing entertainment and interest to some of the folks on here. Cheers!
